Creating art
Rudolf Butz used oil paints for a long time, then started painting on transparent acrylic glass, thus breaking new ground.
This unique form of presentation, the concept and the fascination of transparency, demonstrated the changeability of artistic expression. Today, Butz has found his way back to his old métier, the canvas. But more than that: He allows himself the utmost freedom and surrenders to painterly experimentation. Both his creative path and power are today irrepressible, immense and passionately direct. He wants the public to feel attracted to his works, to be carried away by the intensity of the colors. And to recognize this life of their own which the paintings develop time and again. “My paintings are my life, my passion and my personality: Strong, vulnerable and intense.”
Creative path
«My life is made up of serendipities. I have made use of them.»
Where is Art
“My studio is my mind, Solothurn and Brissago are the places where, after studying numerous series of sketches (diaries), all my thoughts are put on canvas with a trained hand and brush.”
“My studio is my mind, Solothurn and Brissago are the places where, after studying numerous series of sketches (diaries), all my thoughts are put on canvas with a trained hand and brush.” Rudolf Butz’ paintings tell stories. Which stories, the painter leaves up to the viewers. Everyone should project and reflect their own stories in pictures. This is how art makes sense to Butz. “I want my painting to enliven, to inspire, to animate. An exhibition should be like a culinary experience: to be eaten, relished and savored with joy.”
